Make sure the fully thawed chicken fits comfortably in the air fryer basket with space around it for airflow. Follow your appliance limits.
Remove the giblets. Do not rinse the chicken. Pat the skin and cavity very dry with paper towels.
Mix the salt, pepper, paprika, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, thyme, and rosemary. Rub the chicken lightly with olive oil, then coat every surface with the seasoning blend.
Preheat the air fryer to 350°F for about 3 minutes if recommended for your model.
Place the chicken breast side down in the basket. Air fry at 350°F for 30 minutes.
Carefully flip the chicken breast side up. Continue cooking for 25–40 minutes, depending on size and appliance power.
Check the thickest part of the breast and the innermost thigh without touching bone. The chicken must reach at least 165°F. Add time in 5-minute increments if needed.
Transfer the chicken to a board and rest for 10–15 minutes before carving.
