Ingredients

  • 3 cup pecan halves
  • 1 egg white
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Equipment

  • 1 Air Fryer
  • 1 Mixing bowl
  • 1 Small Bowl
  • 1 Whisk
  • 1 Silicone Spatula
  • 1 Measuring Cups
  • 1 Measuring spoons
  • 1 Parchment Paper or Baking Sheet

Method

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk the egg white and vanilla extract until slightly frothy.
In a separate small bowl, combine the granulated sugar, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt.
  2. Add the pecan halves to the egg white mixture and toss until evenly coated.
Sprinkle the cinnamon sugar mixture over the pecans and stir until every pecan is fully coated.
  3. Preheat your air fryer to 300°F (150°C).
  4. Arrange the coated pecans in a single layer in the air fryer basket.
Cook for 6–8 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through cooking.
Watch carefully during the last 2 minutes to prevent the sugar from burning.
  5. Transfer the pecans to parchment paper or a baking sheet.
Allow them to cool completely before serving. The coating will harden as they cool, creating a crunchy texture.

Notes

  • Use fresh pecan halves for the best flavor and crunch.
  • Arrange the pecans in a single layer so they cook evenly and caramelize properly.
  • Shake the basket halfway through cooking to prevent the sugar coating from burning.
  • Air fryer models vary, so start checking the pecans after 5 minutes to avoid overcooking.
  • Let the pecans cool completely before serving. The coating becomes crisp as it cools.
  • Store cooled candied pecans in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks or freeze for up to 3 months.
  • Try adding a pinch of cayenne pepper for a sweet and spicy version, or substitute pumpkin pie spice for a festive holiday flavor.
