Crispy-tender air fryer asparagus cooked at 400°F with olive oil, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder, with optional lemon and Parmesan for serving.
Cook Time 8 minutes
Servings: 4 side servings
Course: Side Dish

Ingredients

  • 1 lb fresh asparagus
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • ½ tsp kosher salt
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • Parmesan and lemon optional, for serving

Equipment

  • Air Fryer

Method

  1. Trim the woody ends from the asparagus.
  2. Wash the asparagus and dry the spears thoroughly.
  3. Toss the asparagus with olive oil, kosher salt, black pepper, and garlic powder.
  4. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F if needed for your model.
  5. Arrange the asparagus in a loose single layer in the air fryer basket.
  6. Air fry medium asparagus spears for about 6 to 8 minutes, shaking or turning halfway through.
  7. Adjust the cooking time for spear thickness: start checking thin spears around 4 minutes and thick spears around 8 minutes.
  8. Remove the asparagus when the stalks are tender and the tips are lightly browned.
  9. Finish with lemon or Parmesan if desired.
  10. Serve immediately.

Notes

Cooking time depends on spear thickness and air fryer model. Thin asparagus can finish in about 4 to 6 minutes, medium spears in about 6 to 8 minutes, and thick spears in about 8 to 10 minutes at 400°F. Add lemon juice after cooking for better browning.
